TSAVO DESTINATION
Tsavo National Park in Kenya is a vast wildlife sanctuary comprised of Tsavo East and Tsavo West National Parks. Tsavo, spanning nearly 22,000km2, is not only Kenya’s largest national park but also one of the largest globally. The railway connecting Mombasa to Kenya’s interior divided the park into two distinct entities.
Tsavo East National Park, established in the southeast near Voi, covers 13,747 sq.km. Its landscape is characterized by flat, dry plains traversed by the Galana River, featuring notable landmarks like the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls. On the other hand, Tsavo West National Park, encompassing 9,065 sq.km, is known for its mountainous terrain, swamps, Lake Jipe, and the famous Mzima Springs, attracting diverse birdlife and large mammals such as black rhinos, elephants, leopards, and Masai lions.
Both parks offer abundant accommodation options, with properties strategically located near water holes for optimal game viewing experiences. Multiple access gates facilitate entry into the parks, including Manyani, Voi, Buchuma, and Sala Gates for Tsavo East, and Mtito, Man Eaters, Chyulu, and Maktau Gates for Tsavo West.
